How To Use Drunk Elephant Marula Oil

There are a few different ways you can incorporate this oil into your routine!

Really, it can be used anywhere you’re in need of some extra moisture. It likely would work great on the body, but you’d have to use a good bit more and since it’s on the pricey side, I’m guessing many of us would rather not.

For the face, you only need 1-2 drops per application. On it’s own, you put those drops in your hand and rub your palms together, then distribute evenly on your face. I prefer to press the oil into my skin, rather than rub it in as you would a moisturizer or other skin care product.

I use this either on it’s own, as the last step of my skin care routine. Or mixed with another product!

This oil can be used am or pm because it is quick to absorb and not too heavy! But when I use it in the morning, I typically only do by mixing it with another product.

The Drunk Elephant facial oil

My recent evening skincare routine has consisted of washing, toning, then applying 2 drops of the Marula Oil and Drunk Elephant’s B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum mixed together, followed by their F-Balm.

First combo of products I’ve found to leave my skin feeling nourished by morning, so soft and hydrated, without any product left over sitting on top of my skin making me greasy. Legit didn’t even think that was possible for my skin!!

In the morning, I typically will combine 1 drop of Marula Oil with my moisturizer. I’ve done this with a number of different moisturizers, and it works well with all of them! Helps make my moisturizer last much longer on my skin, especially when I use more gel-based formulas.

I don’t feel like I’ve found the perfect formula for that quite yet, but Marula Oil helps boost my AM moisturizer for sure and I plan to keep that up.

I’ve also used this as an eye moisturizer, especially when I get little bits of dryness and irritation on my eyelids. My eyebrows get especially dry as well, and it works great there too.

Drunk Elephant Marula Oil Review

For reference, I have dry-very dry skin (with some acne on the side, just for fun.)

Even though my skin is so incredibly dry, it often doesn’t respond well to products formulated for dry skin. Thicker products and facial oils often end up sitting on top of my skin, never fully absorbing or doing much of anything for my skin. Not sure if this is something I can fix with time and the more hydrated my skin gets, or it’s just how my skin is.

That being said, I LOVE THIS FACIAL OIL. Giving the Drunk Elephant Marula Oil a GLOWING review (get it??)

I’ve never experienced this oil sitting on top of my skin doing nothing or making my face greasy. It helps lock in all the moisture of the previous products as well as provides moisture on it’s own and actually sinks into my skin! It helps other products preform better on my skin. It’s a magic little oil.

I have sensitive skin as well, and have on and off dealt with breakouts for the last few years. This has never once irritated my skin at all, even when my skin is especially sensitive. And it’s never caused breakouts! I know it can be a little scary to put an oil on your face if you are breakout prone, but I’ve never experienced a breakout or a hint of a breakout from using this oil

As I mentioned above, the Drunk Elephant Marula Oil works great in combination with other products! That is my most favorite way to use it. It superpowers whatever else you’re using and seals it all in.

3 different sizes of the Drunk Elephant Marula oil.

Final Thoughts

Is this product worth the price? YES in my opinion. It packs a serious punch and can do so much good for your skin, no matter the skin type. Because you only need a few drops per application, the bottle really goes a loooooong long way. I bet if you were to calculate it per application, it wouldn’t end up being all that expensive.

However, if you’re feeling intimidated by the price tag, it comes in a smaller bottle. The Littles collection is also a great way to try a LOT of Drunk Elephant products as a much better price than purchasing them all individually.
