I am always searching for quality hydrating products for my very picky dry skin, so I was very excited to test out and review the Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum. Drunk Elephant is a brand I trust, and tend to have good luck with their products, so my expectations were high with this one!

Background Info on Drunk Elephant
Drunk Elephant is a clean beauty brand at Sephora with quite the cult following behind it! They initially were just a skincare brand, but have expanded into body and haircare in the last year or so.
They are a pricier brand, but a high quality brand as well.
They formulate products using ingredients that either directly benefit your skin, or protect the formulations of the product. They focus on healthy pH levels as well as easily absorbed formulations. Their products are designed to be mixed together and integrated within a skincare routine!

It is a lightweight and hydrating serum designed to “visibly replenishes the complexion and improves the look of skin texture and tone.” It provides easily absorbed hydration for your skin, helps to reduce fine lines, and promote firm skin.
Can be mixed with other products to create a skin care smoothie or boost hydration.

How To Use The Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum
Apply B-Hydra to face and neck, or any other place in need of hydration. I personally use this after cleansing and using my toner or a facial spray.
Can be mixed with any Drunk Elephant serum, oil, or cream to lock the serum in.

- Provitamin B5 is well known to complement vitamin C, so try mixing this serum with C-Firma
- Try Drunk Elephant‘s “ABC Smoothie” for visibly smoother, brighter, more hydrated skin: In the palm of your hand, mix a pea-size amount A-Passioni, one pump of C-Firma, and one pump of B-Hydra, then apply.
- Try Drunk Elephant‘s “Juice-C Water Smoothie” for visibly brighter, healthier, more hydrated skin: In the palm of your hand, mix one pump of C-Firma and one pump of B-Hydra, then apply.
Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum Review
For the first few times I used this serum, I wasn’t all that impressed. Couldn’t really tell if it was doing anything, and for such a pricey item I felt a little unsure.
However, the more I used it and tested it out, the more I absolutely fell in love!
I have learned that although my skin is very dry and often dehydrated, it does not respond well to formulations designed to be very thick and creamy. Even though those are meant for dry skin, my skin hates them, and the product typically sits on top of my skin not ever fully absorbing or working all that well for me. My skin does respond well to multiple layers of thinner hydrating products.
The Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum is very quick to absorb, but not in a way that feels it’s simply vanishing completely. Gives you a good hydrating base to build upon! Works well in my layering skincare process.
I have found that my favorite way to use this is to mix it with my favorite Marula Oil. I usually will wash my face, using a hydrating facial spray, then apply 1-2 pumps of the B-Hydra with 1-2 drops of Marula Oil. Then I’ll apply a lightweight moisturizer on top of that (or something a little heavier if it’s at night). I realize this is a bit backwards on how we’re supposed to apply products, but it’s been working well for me lately!
Something about the B-Hydra mixed with Marula works wonders for my dry skin. They compliment each other really well. After I apply moisturizer, the hydration feels much more locked in and longer lasting!
I think all skin types would enjoy this serum because of how lightweight it is. If you have very oily skin, this might be all you need for your moisturizer!
Also worth nothing that this serum has not broken me out or irritated my sensitive skin.
This is certainly a pricier skincare item, but when you only use 1-2 pumps it lasts a while! The benefits and how my skin responds make it very worth it to me. This was gifted, but I will 100% be repurchasing with my own money.
Final Thoughts
Although pricy, the Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum has become one of my cruelty free skincare favorites. It provides lightweight and quickly absorbed hydration, giving you a solid layer of moisture to build upon. Mixes really well with other products too and great for all skin types! Worth the price tag, imo.
