The Drunk Elephant Jelly Cleanser is one I had heard really good things about. I only ended up trying it because it was a Sephora birthday gift reward one year. I initially only used it while traveling since it was mini, but was immediately super impressed by this cleanser!

The Drunk Elephant Jelly Cleanser

Drunk Elephant was kind enough to send a full sized cleanser my way, so I was super excited to get to continue to use this product!

Info on Drunk Elephant

I’ve shared some background on Drunk Elephant in previous posts, but if you haven’t read those and want a little info, I’ll give ya a little background on this top rated brand!

They are a skincare focused brand, with a recent expansion into body and hair products. They are definitely one of the top skincare brands sold at Sephora, and with good reason, they make some high quality products!

From the Drunk Elephant website, “We are committed to using only ingredients that either directly benefit the health of the skin or support the integrity of our formulations. We never take into account whether something is synthetic or natural, instead choosing ingredients based on biocompatibility. That’s why we focus on healthy pH levels, formulations the skin recognizes, small molecular structure that’s easily absorbed, and effective active ingredients that also support and maintain the skin’s acid mantle.”

They don’t claim to be 100% all natural, but they do claim to be only putting ingredients into their products that will benefit your skin! They absolutely are keeping skin health in mind with each formulation and product.

All of their products are free from the Suspicious 6 – essential oils, drying alcohols, silicones, chemical sunscreens, fragrances/dyes, and SLS.

  • Virgin Marula Oil: High in critical antioxidants and omegas 6 and 9, this nourishing oil supports Beste’s cleansing and makeup-removal power.
  • Glycerin: Helps replenish hydration levels that are normally lost in skin during the cleansing process.
  • Cantaloupe Fruit Extract: Rich in antioxidants to soothe and hydrate skin.

Other Deets

This cleanser is formulated at an “ideal, non-stripping pH level” of 5.5.

How To Use Drunk Elephant Jelly Cleanser

This is your pretty standard cleanser! Although it can be used wet or dry. You simply squeeze a bit into your palm, I usually do around a quarter size amount. Then, apply to your face and neck. Either add water to lather if you applied it dry, or continue to lather if your skin was already wet and gently massage all over your skin.

Continue until all of your makeup has been removed and your face has been thoroughly cleansed. Rinse and dry!

Drunk Elephant Jelly Cleanser Review

I personally am really lazy when it comes to my skincare aka I am holding out as long as possible before I dive into the double cleansing method. I don’t want to have to use a makeup remover AND a face wash, I want one that will do it all, while being both gentle and effective. I want all of my makeup removed, my face cleaned, and not feeling squeaky clean or too dry. Those are my demands!

The Drunk Elephant Jelly Cleanser fits the bill! It honestly has quickly gone into my top spot of favorite cleansers.

This cleanser is super effective at removing my makeup, even eyeliner and eye makeup. Note – I haven’t tried this with waterproof mascara. But every other eye product I’ve used, this cleanser removes no problem with either none left behind, or at least very very minimal.

It’s effective at cleansing my skin as well, leaving my skin feeling super soft and clean once I’ve used it. It has helped keep my breakouts at bay, and has never once left my skin feeling irritated or stripped.

Drunk Elephant cleanser

It’s ever so slightly more drying than I might want, but just barely. I have ultra dry skin, so cleansers always leave my skin feeling some level of too-dry. This one is very minimal.

Depending on your budget, some may feel this is a bit on the pricey side. I personally feel like this cleanser has lasted me a long time with how little I need to use to get my face properly cleansed, so it’s worth it imo. Although this was sent to me, I will be repurchasing it myself once I run out!

Final Thoughts

Simple, gentle, effective. Not too drying, doesn’t strip your skin. Cleanses your skin well and also removes makeup. It’s a favorite cleanser of mine for sure, and will be on repeat for me!

If you’re new to Drunk Elephant, or have a bunch of product you want to try out before committing to the full size, The Littles is always a good option. It’s a bit on the pricey side, but you get to try out a LOT and can figure out what would be worth it/not worth it for you to purchase a big version of.
