I am always on the hunt for a solid cruelty free sunscreen for body, so when I saw Bare Republic Clearscreen at CVS on sale, I had to scoop it up to give it a try. The Clearscreen thing intrigued me, especially considering that’s one of my favorite features of my beloved Unseen Sunscreen. I brought the Bare Republic Clearscreen to the beach with me, and am super fair, so you know I really gave this a try! Sharing all my thoughts below!

How To Use The Bare Republic Clearscreen

To apply the Clearscreen you simply shake the bottle well and apple liberally 15 minutes before you plan to go out into the sun.

Hold the bottle 4-6 inches away from where you’d like to apply and spray, then rub in. If applying to face, spray into hands and then rub into your face.

Reapply after 80 minutes of swimming or sweating, immediately after towel drying, and at least every 2 hours.

Bare Republic Clearscreen Review

The product description of the Bare Republic Clearscreen sounded really promising, and I was super hopeful since the Unseen Sunscreen is such a favorite and this seemed to be the body version of that. However, I was not a big fan of this.

I honestly feel like I’ve yet to find a body sunscreen I truly love, the best I have come is any mineral based formula. Even though those tend to be more likely to leave a white cast, they don’t feel heavy or greasy at all.

The Clearscreen was very greasy. While yes, it was totally clear, it never absorbed.

The first time I used it I sprayed it on all over, liberally, as directed. Then I rubbed it in a bit. I was slick the entire day! Seriously. I sat in my beach chair the whole day and every time I’d accidentally touch my skin it would still be shiny and slick from the sunscreen. Never absorbed.

The next day I applied to my hands and then rubbed in, and used much less product. While I wasn’t nearly as shiny and slick, I was still greasy the entire day. All week long I used this all over and hated how it felt, it was very very greasy on me and never sunk in or went away.

The scent is your typical sunscreen scent, which I am a fan of. Not super overpowering.

Definitely clear! So it does live up to those claims. And did offer great protection, didn’t burn once. But very much greasy to the point that I’d rather not use it again.

Perhaps the lotion option of Clearscreen would be better to explore? It does have good reviews on Target!

I’m still a Bare Republic fan and plan to try out more of their products – THIS SUNSCREEN in particular has caught my eye, but the Clearscreen is not for me.

Final Thoughts

While it lives up to the claim of being clear – it is completely transparent on the skin, and it does offer great skin protection, it’s very greasy and never fully absorbed. It was a bit too greasy for my liking, and I’ll be trying more cruelty free sunscreen products until I find one I love!

PS – need a rec for a seriously amazing cruelty free facial sunscreen?! Here ya go!
