Reviewing the Tarte Mineral Powder Sunscreen today, so if you’re getting ready for summer and looking for a powder SPF, keep on reading! This is a vegan, brush on translucent sunscreen, made without chemical sunscreen ingredients.

Now, because I am very fair and burn easily, the Tarte Powder Sunscreen is typically not my main form of sun protection. This isn’t to say you couldn’t use it in that way, I just prefer not to.
Many of the reviews on Sephora say that they use this as their main form of sunscreen and it works great! It might work for me too, I’m just a little too nervous to do that.
Also worth noting that if you plan on swimming or getting wet, this is not a water resistant sunscreen.

I typically use in a few different ways:
- I will use this to set my sunscreen to avoid any greasy feeling, give added protection, and help it last a little longer.
- To touch up throughout the day when I need it – unless I am out in direct sunlight for extended periods of time (ex – beach), where I will reapply a cream sunscreen.
- In areas I don’t want to apply a cream sunscreen – hairline along forehead, nape of my neck hairline, my part, eyebrows, etc.
On Sephora, this has been reviewed over 135 times with an average rating of 4.3 stars.
As mentioned before, this is a vegan product. The main ingredients for sun protection are Titanium Dioxide 8.6% and Zinc Oxide 10.0, which are both physical sunscreens.
The Tarte Powder Sunscreen has a scent to it, smells like a mixture of vanilla and the typical sunscreen scent to me. It’s a pleasant scent, but it doesn’t last very long if that is something that typically bothers you.

To apply, you remove the cap, and push down the plastic part that covers the brush. You push the button on the bottom a few times to release the product, then brush over any areas you want sun protection.
A good amount of product comes out with every push of the button, so go easy! You may experience a little bit of fallout since it’s a loose powder.
Now, it is supposed to be a translucent powder. However, it does have a tint to it. For me, this isn’t an issue at all. Some reviews stated that they experienced some chalkyness to their skin when applying.
If you have darker skin, it may show up on your skin, or you may need to use an additional foundation brush to buff it in a bit. I’m not quite sure. Something to keep in mind!

It wears well on the skin, especially since it is translucent on me. It doesn’t cling to any dry patches – important for me since I have very dry skin. It hasn’t irritated my skin at all, or caused me to breakout.
This is one of my summer staple products that I always have on hand, especially at the beach. I often would get burned along my hairline and my part, and this totally solves that issue for me. It’s also great to have in my bag for touchups when needed.
I have loved the Tarte Powder Sunscreen for a few years now, and highly recommend you picking it up to try, especially if you’re fair skinned like me! It’s great for touching up on the go and getting those harder to apply areas. Absolutely a great product to bring along on all of your summer sun-filled adventures!
