I’ve been searching for my perfect hydrating concealer for a while now, and had very very veerrrrry high hopes for the Josie Maran Vibrancy Concealer. It’s a full coverage concealer, packed with hydrating ingredients, including argan oil. Not to mention, some stunning packaging as well! I’ve been testing this out for a while now, and sharing my full review below!

This concealer has the Clean at Sephora label meaning it is formulated without a list of over 50 ingredients, including sulfates (SLS and SLES), parabens, phthalates, and more.

How To Use Josie Maran Vibrancy Concealer
To use this concealer, you dab on via the applicator onto any spots that you’d like to conceal. Blends out well with both brushes and beauty sponges! This is a full coverage concealer, so start with a little and blend before layering on more product.

I had really high hopes for this concealer! It’s a brand known for hydration, and infusing the majority, if not all, of their products with their signature argan oil, so I figured this would be a dream on my dry skin.
In terms of the hydration aspect, this concealer absolutely lived up to my expectations! Easily the most hydrating concealer I’ve ever used. Doesn’t cling or accentuate any dry spots or patches. Doesn’t look cakey underneath my eyes – which is typically where dryness is especially noticeable for me. Even with a setting powder on top, it’s still the most hydrating formula
The Josie Maran Vibrancy Concealer is very creamy and on the thicker side, but easy to apply. The applicator doesn’t pull or tug during application. It blends out really well! A little bit goes a very long way! I have found it to be a medium – full coverage concealer, depending on how much you apply/layer the product, as well as the area you need to cover. But have a light hand when applying product! Start with a little and build up as you need it. Necessary, and helpful to prevent creasing. You need much less product than you think you do!
I use this to cover my undereyes (I deal with dark circles rather than puffiness +bags), as well as blemishes and various bits of redness around my face. Coverage wise, this has worked really well for me! Covered up (for the most part) everything I needed it to, without looking like I’m wearing a pound of makeup over top. Has a fairly natural looking finish.
Because of the hydrating nature of this concealer, I have found it needs to be set with a powder otherwise it will start to break up/crease throughout the day. I personally have had the best luck setting it with my Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Finish Powder. I tried it with the Becca Hydra-Mist Set & Refresh Powder, which is a hydrating setting powder. But it they didn’t seem to work well together, at least not on my skin. They did at the beginning of the day, but at the end of the day the concealer had broken up in various places, which it hadn’t done with the Charlotte Tilbury Powder.
I typically blend it with my Real Techniques Sponge, and find that to work best for me. I think using a damp sponge works particularly well with the thickness of this formula, thinning it out just a bit.
Also worth noting that this concealer has never broken me out, and I often use it to cover blemishes around my chin (which is where I’m super prone to breakouts!).
My biggest complaint with this concealer is definitely the shade range. It is seriously lacking. Even though I still love the formula and wear it, the best matching shade is definitely too yellow on me. It lacks shades for deeper skin tones, very fair skin tones, and honestly skin tones in between. Especially lacking shades in a variety of undertones. 7 shade options?! I mean….c’mon. I see a lot of people complaining of the same type of thing within the reviews – a lot of people claiming it’s too yellow for them specifically as well.
Honestly this is such a shame because I really really enjoyed the formula of this concealer. It’s easily the most hydrating concealer I’ve ever used! I am using the shade Fair, fyi, which is the lightest shade.
They mention in the description of the concealer that it’s for all skin types. I would have thought the hydration nature of this concealer would mean oily skin types might not love this, unless perhaps they have particular areas on their face that get dry + can look dry depending on the concealer. However, in searching through the reviews, it seems like plenty of people with oily skin love this too!
Final Thoughts
I think if you have dry skin and have struggled to find a concealer that provides good coverage without highlighting dryness, the Josie Maran Vibrancy Concealer would be worth a try. Especially if your skin has yellow undertones, since it seems a lot of the shades pull yellow.
However, I would suggest trying in store to get shade matched, and make sure there is a shade that would work well for you (once rona is over probably). Or make sure you purchase from a retailer that allows returns if you’ve opened the product! Aka, Sephora. Love that they do that!
If they expanded the shade range, this would have a glowing recommendation from me!
