The Youth to the People Superfood Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizer was sent as a deluxe sample in a Sephora Play box a while ago, and I’ve actually had this review saved in my drafts for a while so I’m finally hitting publish.

Although this was a smaller jar than the full sized version, I do feel like I was able to use it long enough to fully form an opinion and figure out whether or not this worked for me.
Youth to the People is a clean skin care brand sold at Sephora. Their products are all vegan, cruelty free, and formulated without parabens, sulfates, and dimethicone. Their products are all made with nutrient dense ingredients, and cold pressed in the USA.
The Superfood Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizer is supposed to be great for all skin types with an air-whipped texture. Lightweight, yet hydrating.
Ingredient Highlights (From Youth to the People):
- Kale: It’s rich in skin-loving phytonutrients and vitamins C, E, and K.
- Green Tea: This plant powerhouse is packed with nourishing antioxidants.
- Hyaluronic Acid: A natural hydrator known for its incredible moisture-retaining properties.
The Youth to the People Superfood Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizer has been rated over 734 times on Sephora, with an average review of 4.2 stars.
My first impression was that I immediately loved the smell, I haven’t smelled any other product with this scent. Smells like sweet grass mixed with cucumbers to me, might sound weird, but smelled good to me! Smells very fresh and clean, not artificial at all.
I immediately get headaches from a lot of scented products, particularly with floral or other artificial scents. But this is scented just from the ingredients used in it, which I appreciated. And if you’re not a fan of the scent, it doesn’t linger very long at all.
It’s a white cream, fairly light in consistency. Seems like a hybrid between a lotion and a gel. Applies really nicely to the skin, and doesn’t leave behind any residue whatsoever. I found no difference in absorption whether I applied a lot or a little. So, you could play around with what amount works for you.
I experienced no irritation at all, and I have very sensitive skin. Felt calming, and didn’t inflame my redness. This moisturizer also did not break me out at all, another concern of mine.
However, a few reviews on the Sephora site mention breakouts from using this moisturizer. So if you have acne prone skin, this might not be for you. I lucked out with not dealing with that particular issue, but it’s something to be aware of.
Within the first hour of having this moisturizer on my face, I loved it. I found myself often touching my skin because it felt so smooth and hydrated. It really does just sink right into the skin, and my skin drank it up. It plumped my cheeks up nicely too, which are the driest part of my face.
However, a few hours in, and my cheeks felt dry again, and needed more moisture. My forehead, nose, and chin felt properly hydrated still, which is more combination/oily for me. I found this to remain the same during the duration of using up this entire jar. Just never was hydrating enough for my dry skin.

Other Sephora reviews mention similar experiences. Some even suggested using this as more of a serum, with a more hydrating moisturizer layered on top.
Although this claims to be for all skin types, for me it didn’t work on my dry skin. I think if you have normal to oily skin, or slightly dry skin, then it might be a moisturizer worth trying out. If you are someone who needs a product with hydration to last throughout the day, this probably isn’t for you.
That being said, Youth To The People seems like a very high quality brand, and I appreciate all the thought that goes into the ingredients they use in their products. Although this moisturizer didn’t work for my skin, I would definitely try this brand again.
