If you follow any big blogger, chances are you’ve heard of Tula Skincare, and typically all of the reviews are absolutely amazing, so I picked up the Tula Aqua Infusion Oil-Free Gel Cream, along with a few other products, to try for myself.
Not going to lie, I’ve always been very curious if Tula is as absolutely amazing as everyone raves about. I swear, all of the Tula Skincare reviews are always that it’s amazing, and there’s something about never hearing a negative review that makes me skeptical for some reason.
In my order, I picked up a few different Tula products, including the very hyped Glow & Get It Cooling & Brightening Eye Balm, which I will be sharing my review on very soon.
I also grabbed the Purifying Cleanser and Acne Clearing + Tone Correcting Gel. If you read my Murad Time Release Acne Cleanser review, you know that I deal with acne and am always working to both prevent further acne, and fade dark marks caused by previous breakouts. Hoping the Acne Clearing + Tone Correcting Gel is the miracle product I’m looking for!
BTW, If you haven’t heard of Tula, I’ll give you a quick little breakdown of the brand. Tula is a skin care brand that uses probiotics in each and every product.
From Tula’s website, the probiotics, “help promote the look of skin’s natural balance, locking in moisture to leave your complexion more hydrated and reducing the appearance of inflammation.” Tula products are cruelty free and formulated without “phthalates, parabens, propylene glycol, petrolatum, gluten, and mineral oil.”
The Aqua Infusion Oil-Free Gel Cream is often referred to as the equivalent to 8 glasses of water for your skin. It’s supposed to hydrate, reduce redness, feel cooling, and be weightless on the skin.
Ingredient Highlights (from Tula):
- Hydra plant complex clinically proven to lock in moisture for instant and sustained 72-hour hydration.
- Fermented rice water helps pores appear smaller for a fresh and revived appearance.
- Organic Prickly Pear extract is extracted from organic cactus, and has been proven to not only hydrate, but also reduce the look of irritation and redness for a soothed and calm complexion.
My review of the Tula Aqua Infusion Oil-Free Gel Cream is that I really liked it, but it wasn’t right for my skin. I should have known that it wasn’t going to be hydrating enough for my very dry skin, but I had heard just how hydrating it was, so I thought it might still work. I prefer gel formulas to lotions, so I was hopeful this would be perfect for me.
However, it ended up just not being hydrating enough. It did feel really cooling on the skin, which was nice. It has a very light fragrance. I like the packaging, and the lid to the pump feels like a very solid acrylic that won’t get cracked or damaged easily.
One minor annoying thing, the pump was not my favorite. I typically used 3 pumps when applying, and the first 2 pumps would be fine, but the third seemed to not be a full pump. Not a big deal, but it did happen pretty frequently.
The moisturizer itself was not irritating whatsoever on my very sensitive skin. Also has not broken me out at all, which is always a concern of mine.
Typically, I add a drop of Marula Oil, which helps the moisturizer last a bit longer on my skin. They combined really nicely, but still didn’t quite last me through the day.
I think if you have dry skin, this could be a great hydrating serum that you layer underneath another moisturizer. On its own, I don’t see how this could be moisturizing enough for anyone with dry skin though.
I think anyone with oily skin will absolutely LOVE the Aqua Infusion Oil-Free Gel Cream. Like I said, it feels cooling and refreshing. It’s very lightweight, and absorbs very quickly. I think if you have oily skin this will work really great for you, and be the perfect, light bit of moisture your skin needs.
All in all, I was still really impressed by this moisturizer, and could see that it was a really good one, even though it didn’t work for my skin type. I definitely recommend picking it up to try, especially if you have oily skin!
So, were all the amazing Tula Skincare reviews true? Based off this product, I can say that they might be true. Even though it didn’t work for me, I can still tell it’s a solid moisturizer. That being said – one of the other products I purchased was a severe let down. But I’ll be saving that for another post!
