The Tula Eye Balm is probably one of the MOST hyped up Tula products ever. Seemed like every other blogger was saying it worked wonders for them, and with how quickly it kept selling out, seemed like everyone else generally agreed. I knew I had to pick it up so I could share my own Tula Eye Balm review, and see if it lived up to the massive hype.
Overall, I’ve had a pretty good experience with Tula products. I’ve shared my reviews for their Cleanser, Acne Clearing + Tone Correcting Gel, and Aqua Infusion Oil-Free Gel Cream (which they changed the name to Dew Your Thing Oil-Free Gel Cream) and had good things to say about all of those products. I had seriously high hopes for the Tula Eye Balm.
I’m not typically one to buy into hype all that often honestly. I saw plenty of bloggers sharing the Tula Eye Balm and didn’t really think much of it, but one in particular shared a demo and I was very intrigued. It looked absolutely stunning on her skin and brightened up her undereyes beautifully.
I struggle with darkness under my eyes and some puffiness too, so seemed like this would be a little magic stick that would solve all my under eye problems. So I quickly added to my cart and snagged it before it sold out again.
A bit about the Tula Eye Balm, which is technically called the Glow & Get It Cooling & Brightening Eye Balm.
From the Tula website, “Our luminous eye balm delivers a lit-from-within glow while instantly hydrating, cooling, and filling in fine lines around the eyes. You’ll feel awake and look energized so you can glow & get it!”
Ingredient Highlights:

- Blueberry: rich in antioxidants, hydrates and protects the skin
The Eye Balm, along with all other Tula products are free from alcohol, fragrance, parabens, phalates, mineral oil, silicone, sodium lauryl sulfate.
It can be worn underneath or overtop makeup, brightens, cools, depuffs, performs magic, and voila – stunning undereyes!
All good stuff, right?
Overall, the general Tula Eye Balm review on the Tula and Ulta website is over 4 stars, with it being 4.6 on Tula’s site out of 867 ratings!

Yep, I was extremely disappointed with the Tula Eye Balm. There I said it. Honestly was nervous to write this review because it seems like everyone LOVES it, but it just did not work well for me at all.
First of all, the cooling effect is just not for me. I’m *extremely* picky when it comes to any type of cooling or tingly sensations from a product. As someone with sensitive skin, it can be hard to tell the difference between a cooling sensation, and something just irritating my skin.
I thought I would like the cooling sensation and that it would feel refreshing, but it just isn’t for me. Something about it just feels off to me and not calming. Also I’m pretty sure it gives me a headache the longer I have it on.
It lasts too long. I personally prefer cooling sensations to be quick – just cool the skin, refresh it, depuff, then go away. But this one cools for too long. I probably noticed it for around an hour.
If you enjoy cooling sensations, and like for them to last a while, then you might be into the Tula Eye Balm.
Also if I got it a bit too close to the inner corner of my eye it would cause my eyes to water. I have very sensitive skin, so might just be due to that, but didn’t really love that either.
So right away upon application I already was feeling very skeptical.
In terms of the brightening effect, I didn’t really feel like I saw much of that going on. That was the main reason I purchased it and the effect I was most excited about. It looked like it brightened SO much on the other blogger I had seen it on, so I had really high expectations for that aspect.
I brightened a teeny bit, but not as noticeable as I was hoping for. It mainly looked like a very light blue glittery sheen underneath my eyes, which wasn’t really what I wanted.
Honestly I’m looking through my pictures to find the ones I took and it’s so hard to figure out which one is the before and which is the after. It’s just not super noticeable on me. Maybe because I have such fair skin to begin with??
The consistency is pretty thick, and doesn’t absorb into this skin, although I’m not sure if it’s supposed to. It does claim to be hydrating, but I didn’t notice that it hydrated my undereyes, mainly just sat on top of my skin.
Because of the thickness of the formula, I didn’t really feel like it layered well underneath my concealer or overtop of it.
If I had it on underneath my concealer, then it would become cakey pretty quick, and didn’t blend out as easily. If I layered it overtop, the Eye Balm didn’t apply evenly and made my concealer break up.
I saw a few people in the reviews say that it had a weird scent, kinda like a glue stick, but I didn’t really notice this. I can’t smell it at all once it’s on my skin at all. I can’t really describe what exactly it smells like, but it’s not that noticeable to me.
Soooo all in all, I can’t say I recommend the Tula Eye Balm. Did not work for me at all, even a little, and was a miss. Womp womp.

I still think Tula is a solid skincare brand, and plan to try more of their products. I’ve liked everything else I’ve tried so far, but the Eye Balm was just a major miss for me. But plenty of other people still love it and swear by it! Skincare is always going to be so personal since everyone is going to respond differently.
Not going to lie though, they released a Rose version of their Eye Balm, and I’m definitely curious if that one will work better for me then the original. I think I’ll hold off for now though!
