I first heard of the skincare brand Tula when various bloggers were sharing their Tula Cleanser review. It was the first product I was aware of, and similar to every other Tula product, it had rave reviews. I was very curious about this brand since I was seeing it ALL over the place, so I placed an order and have been trying out a bunch of Tula products.
I personally picked this up in this Glow For It Kit, which contains the Tula Cleanser, Aqua Infusion Oil-Free Gel Cream (reviewed here), and Glow & Get It Cooling and Brightening Eye Balm (review coming soon!) It’s definitely the best value. I also grabbed the Acne Clearing + Tone Correcting Gel, which I reviewed here.

ANYWAYS. Back to the Tula Cleanser!
Ingredient Highlights (from the Tula website)
- Lactic acid – naturally cleanses and exfoliates to reveal healthy, radiant looking skin.
- Chicory root – natural anti-inflammatory prebiotic that helps boost the appearance of firmer skin.
- Turmeric root – powerful antioxidant that helps reduce signs of inflammation.
- Blueberries – rich in antioxidants that help protect from free-radical attack.
- Probiotics – hydrate and lock in moisture.
The Tula Cleanser has been really great for me so far. It does foam up and get nice and sudsy, and I know that’s not always a positive for everyone, so if you’re not into that this probably isn’t for you. Also it does have a scent to it, just a clean fresh scent, but if you’re not into fragrance, then I’d skip this one.
I haven’t noticed that with the few other products I’ve tried, so they might not add fragrance to all of their products.
It removes every last trace of makeup without having to really scrub, even hard to remove mascara. I hate having to really scrub to get everything off, so I love how effective this is. I know a lot of people prefer to double cleanse, and their first cleanser typically removes all of your makeup, but I am #lazy and would rather just cleanse once (unless I have a full face of makeup.)
It doesn’t over dry my face at all. I’ve experienced no tightness after using this on my skin, which is a requirement for me in a cleanser. With my dry and sensitive skin, sometimes cleanser can cause some excessive dryness, so I love that I haven’t dealt with that at all while using the Tula Cleanser.
It’s a really gentle face wash, while still actually being effective. It’s not so gentle that it isn’t actually doing anything. Some cleansers made for sensitive skin don’t actually do much of anything for me. But my skin feels clean and soft after using this, and I really like it!
I am battling acne and figuring out how to keep it under control. The Murad Time Release Acne Cleanser has been a savior for my skin, and really made a different in reducing my breakouts. I stopped using it in order to try the Tula Cleanser and I did notice that some breakouts started to pop back up.
The Tula Cleanser didn’t break me out, but it doesn’t contain any acne fighting ingredients specifically, so I personally need to use it in conjunction with a product that does have acne fighting ingredients, such as their Acne Clearing + Tone Correcting Gel.
Just trying to say that if you’re hoping this clears out acne, it might not be enough to do that. I’d recommend combining it with their Acne Clearing + Tone Correcting Gel, or another acne fighting product. Salicylic acid has been working great for me and my skin has responded really well to it, so that could be a place to start.
I now use this at night and use with the Acne Gel on specific areas on my face I need it. Then I use the Murad Cleanser in the morning. I don’t want to be putting salicylic acid all over my face twice a day, seems to dry me out a bit, so this is the perfect combination for my skin right now.
So, my overall Tula Cleanser review is that it’s a solid face wash to incorporate into your skin care routine. I think it’s great for normal skin, but if you have oily or dry skin it’s absolutely worth trying as well.
