The Tarte Frxxxtion stick is one of my favorite exfoliators. Spoiler alert, if you don’t feel like reading the rest! But my review of this skin care product is that it’s a really good one! As someone who is extremely picky with exfoliators, that’s really saying something!
The Tarte Frxxxtion Stick is a 3 in 1 stick exfoliating cleanser that can be used as a cleanser, exfoliator, and treatment mask. I personally only use it as an exfoliator, and find that to be the best way to use the product.
It comes in a little twist up container, and is supposed to reduce oil, clean out pores, remove dead skin, and thoroughly clean the skin.
To use this, you simply twist up the product and apply onto your damp skin – very important, skin must be wet in order to apply properly. You rub the stick all over your face to apply the product, then using your hands, gently rub the product in circular motions. Then rinse! You’re left with clean and smooth skin!
The Tarte Frxxxtion Stick can be used 2-3 times per week, and I wouldn’t recommend much more than that. It can be really bad for your skin to over exfoliate, so less is more!
If you currently do not exfoliate regularly, I’d start with 1-2 times per week and see how your skin responds. You can build up more if you think you need it, but don’t overdo it!
Although it’s listed as a cleanser, they mean that it also cleanses your skin as you exfoliate. Definitely not meant to be used as a daily cleanser, it’s too harsh for that.
On the Sephora website, it has been reviewed nearly 900 times, with an average rating of 4.5 stars!
My skin is dry and sensitive. Really sensitive. A lot of exfoliators I try often leave my face covered in hives and irritated. Others are gentle and don’t irritate my skin, but don’t do much of anything either.
So it can be tricky for me to find skincare products, and especially exfoliators, that actually exfoliate my skin, while being very gentle and non-irritating.
I tried this in a little travel sized version first. I felt an immediate difference in my skin, so smooth without over-drying it. The real test for me is if there is any irritation, which typically happens the next day.
After many weeks of the Tarte Frxxxtion Stick I can say that it didn’t irritate my skin whatsoever! A gentle yet effective exfoliator is a big WIN in my book. I’ve repurchased this product multiple times now, and still love it even years later!
I really like the packaging, it’s so easy to travel with. It’s not very messy, although I make sure I wipe it off if any product is on the packaging after usage. It can get some on the part where the cap screws on, but it’s easy to wipe off while you’re using it. But generally it’s not messy.
If you’re someone looking to avoid the plastic microbeads often found in face and body exfoliators, this product totally fits the bill. They use Diatomaceous Earth Microexfoliants, which is fossilized sea algae to both exfoliate the skin and absorb any oil and toxins in your skin.
Also, this is a vegan skincare product, if that’s something you look for in skincare or beauty products.
Overall, this is a solid exfoliator. I think anyone with sensitive skin would really like the Tarte Frxxxtion Stick, if you’re looking for a gentle exfoliator. But if you don’t have sensitive skin, I think you would like this as well because although it’s gentle, it’s still really effective. Highly recommend this product!
