If you’ve heard of the Moroccanoil Treatment, then you’re likely aware of the cult following behind it. Ever wonder if it’s worth the hype? Breaking all of that down for you here!

If you haven’t heard of it though, I’ll explain a bit. Basically it’s a hair oil that performs straight magic. Not really, but that’s not that far off.
Essentially it’s a multi use hair oil that makes your hair soft and smooth, and helps with frizz. From Sephora, it’s a “versatile, argan oil-infused hair treatment and styler that promotes softer, stronger hair with increased shine and less frizz.”
You can use this either on wet or dry hair to infuse softness, shine, and control shine. Plus it smells amazing! I wish they sold this scent as a perfume, I would wear it daily. It’s SO so good, easily one of my favorite product scents.
It is a bit on the pricey side, but there are three sizes to choose from.
- $15 for 25 mL
- $34 for 50 mL
- $44 for 100 mL
However you only need a tiny amount with each use, so it’s not something you need to repurchase very often. I currently have the smallest size and still have a good amount left even with regular use (and spilling some recently ugh), but I definitely will be purchasing the biggest size once I run out since that’s the best value!

Key Ingredients (from the Moroccanoil website):
- Argan Oil: Extremely rich in tocopherols (Vitamin E), essential fatty acids and antioxidants that hydrate and nourish the hair.
- Linseed Extract: Derived from flaxseed, a good source of alpha linolenic acid—also an essential fatty acid that helps improve the health of hair.
There is a light version of the Moroccanoil Treatment as well, which is formulated for fine and light colored hair. I personally have fine hair, and the regular Moroccanoil Treatment works perfectly for me. Never too heavy, and my hair doesn’t get greasy, so I’ll continue to use it. But something to keep in mind!
The Moroccanoil Treatment can be used on both dry or wet hair, but I prefer to use it on wet hair. I will towel dry my hair after a shower and then apply a pea sized amount (that I’ve rubbed between my palms), focusing on my hair about halfway down to the ends. I’ll then brush it through – I have found this to be key!
Once my hair is dry it is noticeably softer than when I don’t use it. Not to mention that the smell is absolutely HEAVENLY. Have I mentioned how much I love this scent yet???

If you’re looking to tame some flyaways or frizz, this hair oil can also be used on dry and styled hair as well in the same way. I will apply a small amount (less than I would on wet hair), and rub between my palms, then apply where I need to tame.
One thing to note is that this product contains cyclomethicone and dimethicone. I personally don’t avoid those, or truly know much about the ingredients themselves if I’m being honest, but I know that can be an ingredient some people aim to avoid.
I personally always notice a huge difference in the softness of my hair when I the Moroccanoil Treatment. Nothing I’ve ever used has made my hair so noticeably soft! This is definitely a holy grail cruelty free hair product for me, and I highly recommend giving it a try if you want soft, smooth, and amazing smelling hair.
PS – there’s currently a REALLY good deal going on to grab $66 worth of product for only $44! Great time to try out Moroccanoil!
