The Chaser Shine Cream by Drybar was one of the first Drybar products I tried, and it’s honestly a gem of a product. Had to solidify my love for it with a review here on the blog because it’s easily one of my holy grail cruelty free hair products!
From Sephora, The Chaser is “a lightweight shine cream that creates soft, touchable definition, smooths flyaways, and adds tons of shine.” Yes, yes, and YES. Fully agree.
It’s a product that can be used on damp or dry hair, apparently, although I’ve only ever used it on dry hair. To me, it’s a finishing cream, like the last step in your hair styling routine. Absolutely my favorite way to use it.

I use it either to tame my flyaways or frizz, or to add some texture to my hair. Typically, after I curl my hair, I will let it cool down, then put about a dime sized amount of The Chaser to my palms and rub them together. I’ll run my fingers through my hair, focusing on the ends and lower half of my hair. Then whatever product is leftover I’ll use to smooth my flyaways and frizz whenever it’s needed.
It just adds the perfect amount of definition, softness, and texture to my hair. I feel when I curl my hair at home, adding in this cream gives my hair that little something extra it needs. Sort of like if I had an actual hair dresser style it. Right after I curl my hair it’s like too polished, and I feel like running my fingers though it with The Chaser gives me that undone kinda look. Just adds some softness to the curls.

Reading through the reviews, it seems this product works for no matter what type of hair you have. I personally have thin hair, and it works well for me. But, I’ve read numerous reviews from people with thick hair claiming it works wonders for them as well. So it definitely can be a good fit for any hair type!
Something to keep in mind with this product is that a little goes a long way. I would start out with a very small amount, and work more in if you feel necessary. It’s easy to go overboard, and I promise you need less than you think.
Very important to rub through your palms so you can almost melt the product a bit in your hairs, and it can evenly disperse it into your hair.
It’s not a heavy product at all, and hasn’t ever left my hair feeling greasy or weighed down. And that’s saying something, because products easily do that on my fine/thin hair.
It’s got very small bits of glitter in it, which I think adds to the shine factor. It smells AMAZING. I love the smell of all of the Drybar products.
My only complaint is about the packaging, but looking at pictures, it looks like they’ve changed it! Mine must be the previous edition. Basically it used to goop up at the opening and it was impossible to get it to not do that. Looks like the new packaging would fix that issue. I’ll have to update whenever I purchase a new one!
So if you want a stylist in a tube, highly recommend picking up The Chaser to try! It smells amazing, works for any hair type, makes your hair look healthy, and gives your hair that little somethin’ somethin’ you need when you’re styling it. Winnnnnner!
