Seems like the Lavanila Sport Luxe deodorant, and their deodorant line in general, were some of the first natural deodorants on the market. I’m sure in health food stores there have been natural deodorants around foreverrrr, but Lavanila was sold at Sephora, had cute packaging, and stood out less so as a natural product, but a lush one. It tricked me into going natural with my deo! (ps thx Lavanila)

Basically, Lavanila walked so the natural deodorant industry could run.
Okay fine, that’s a bold statement. But it was the first natural deodorant I was ever aware of. I didn’t even really know natural deodorants were a thing, or that I should be thinking twice about what ingredients were in my deodorant.
Lavanila swooped in with their line of delicious vanilla scents, sleek packaging, and conveniently located near the register at Sephora and BAM, cha-ching. All the sudden I was a *~natural~* gal.
JK. Kinda.

But Lavanila was the first I tried, and I really really *really* wanted it to work for me. Spoiler alert, it didn’t. However, I do have a few important things to share about this product.
In my quest for finding the cruelty free natural deodorant of my dreams, I’ve gone through quite the bumpy road. Literally (ew) but both Native, and Kopari left me with rashes and irritation.
Native Sensitive didn’t irritate me, but it didn’t work either.
I tried both the Lavanila Sport Luxe and their OG Pure Vanilla. I didn’t really notice a big difference in the formulas, just the scents. The Sport Luxe smells like a very clean soap, and I’m sure you can guess what the Pure Vanilla smells like. (hint – heaven. It’s not overly sweet at all either)

Which by the way, they have SO many scents. If you are a fan of vanilla, trust me, look into their products! Like beyond just deodorants. Looooove love love their perfume!
So, first important thing to note – I never once experienced any irritation at all while using the Lavanila Sport Luxe Deodorant. I have vvvv sensitive skin, and I never developed even a hint of a rash.
Now, I did notice a few reviews saying that they did experience that, so I wanted to call that out.
FYI – on Amazon, out of 596 reviews it has 4 stars. So it clearly has a bit of a fanbase.
In reading reviews, the biggest complaint is that isn’t not long lasting, which is exactly the experience I had. By noon, I had to reapply. The sweatier I was that day, the more I had to reapply. It worked really well while it was actually still on my skin, but once it was gone, it was gone.
I personally didn’t mind all that much carrying it with me to reapply it, but you don’t always have the opportunity to reapply throughout the day. And it’s not too fun being caught before reapplications.
Soooooo yeah. I switched back to my trusty old aluminum filled deodorant, and didn’t revisit my natural deodorant quest for a few years.

This would be good for the person who doesn’t really need much when it comes to deodorants. I know there are some of y’all magical creatures out there who just don’t really sweat. If you don’t sweat all that much, I think this would last a decent bit of time for you. Plus, smells lovely.
I also think this is a perfect for the pre-teen who is just getting started with body care, truly I think it’s an amazing product for that. It has a sweet scent, is non-irritating on the skin, and is an aluminum free deo. Would make a great little gift for that lil youngster in your life!
Now, if you’re looking for a natural deodorant that has some lasting power and strength behind it, I highly recommend you checking out this cruelty free deodorant I reviewed. Best one I’ve tried!
Sorry I had to break up with your deo, Lavanila. Promise I’m a die hard fan of your perfume though for LIFE.
