Now that the weather has started to cool down, my skin has needed all the help it can get with getting rid of dry skin. Enter, Lancer The Method Polish. This is a pricey yet effective face scrub by the brand Lancer that has quite the cult following, so I will be sharing my review on whether it lives up to the hype.
Lancer was created and founded by Dr. Lancer, a dermatologist who has been in practice by over 30 years. He’s a very well respected dermatologist to the stars. His products used to be exclusively carried at his practice, but now are sold world wide.

I’ve been aware of the Lancer brand for years, but because of how pricey the products are, was always reluctant to try it. I ended up being sent some of their products from Influenster to try. I was sent three items from their Method line – Polish, Nourish, and Cleanse to try out and review.
Honestly, I was skeptical about the products because I knew they were SO hyped up. Any time a product has an insane cult following, I’m always immediately skeptical. Makes no sense. Should be a surprise to absolutely no one that these products live up to the hype, ESPECIALLY the Polish.
Lancer The Method Polish is a gently formulated facial exfoliator, and the first step in the Lancer Method. It has a lavender scent and a warming element to it.
I absolutely never noticed the lavender scent at all, which is saying something because typically any hint of lavender will give me an instant headache.
Ingredient Highlights (from Sephora):
- Natural Quartz and Sodium Bicarbonate Crystals: Create precise exfoliation without the risk of micro-cuts or abrasions.
- Pumpkin and Pomegranate Extracts: Sloughs away dead skin cells.
- Brown Sea Algae: Moisturizes and soothes.
I have *very* sensitive skin, and this is especially true when it comes to exfoliators. True story – I once used that St. Ives scrub at a teenager and ended up breaking out in hives all over my skin. Ended up going to urgent care and the doctor told me “You are a very pretty girl, but not today.” Sweet guy.
ANYWAYS, if exfoliators are too rough on my skin, I typically will break out in some type of rash or hive situation. Even the gentle ones I have to be careful not to scrub too hard.
I have never once broken out in a rash or gotten hives from using Lancer’s Polish. I am careful to be very gentle when I use it, but it works SO well even while being gentle.
I don’t push at all when I use this. I rub as gently as possible all over my face, like basically hovering my hands over my face, and the polish takes care of the rest. My skin is always left SO smooth and not at all irritated. No hives. Nothin’.
I really like the warming element. It goes away the second you wash off the Polish, so no worries if that’s not really you’re thing. But if feels really luxurious when you’re using it. And again, it’s never irritated my sensitive skin.
Honestly my skin is in such good shape when I use this scrub. I don’t feel like it over drys or over exfoliates my face. The little scrubbies are so fine. My skin always feels so smooth and nourished after using it. Just an overall win.
Now, that price point. Yikes. One tube of The Method Polish rings in at $75 for the 4.2 oz tube, or $105 for the 8 oz tube. I personally have a 2 oz tube (because it was gifted in a PR set), and it is lasting me SO long.
You really only need like a pea sized amount to exfoliate your entire face, and you shouldn’t be doing it all that often tbh. In my opinion, although it’s pricey, it will last you a really long time, so if you break it down to price per use, it’s not that bad.
But I totally get if that’s just too dang pricey for ya. It’s steep! Highly recommend getting a sample at your local Sephora to test out before committing.
Lancer The Method Polish also comes in a Blemish Control formula, which I have not tried. But if you have acne prone skin it might be worth trying out!
All in all, even though it’s pricey, it’s going to last you a long time. It’s a really great exfoliator, that is super effective while being very gentle. Highly recommend!
