After seeing their ads all over the place, including some hilariously ridiculous ones, I knew I had to do a Lume Deodorant review. Not the mention the fact that I’m still very much on the hunt for a natural deodorant that not only WORKS (duh), but also doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin.

So far, I’ve had basically no luck finding a solid natural deodorant. Native worked really well for me, but broke me out in a rash. They kindly sent me a sensitive to try, which didn’t work nearly as well as the regular formula for me. (side note – the regular Native formula did work for me, might be worth trying if you don’t have sensitive skin.)
Since I figured out baking soda was a no go for me, I grabbed a Kopari Coconut Deodorant to try. For the first few weeks I loved it. Worked really well, smelled amazing, fairly long lasting.
However, it also eventually broke me out in a rash as well. And after reading a bunch of reviews on it, seemed like plenty of other people experienced the same thing. Not sure if it was another ingredient, like baking soda, that didn’t agree with my skin, or the fact that it is a very wet formula and never seemed to dry down. My skin didn’t seem to agree with that either. Who knows, but clearly Kopari wasn’t for me either.
Enter Lume Deodorant.

I’ve seen adds all over the place for it, and I definitely was curious if it lived up to the big time claims they had for it. I had actually forgotten about it entirely when my best friend mentioned she got it.
She also had bad luck with it came to natural deodorants, so the fact that her Lume Deodorant review was glowing spoke volumes. About 2 seconds after she shared her rave review, I placed an order.
Let’s dive into a little about the product and the brand.
Lume was actually created by a doc while she was doing her residency to become an OB. She noticed a lot of patients coming in complaining about body odor happening…below the belt, and ultimately getting misdiagnosed.
She realized a body odor solution was desperately in need that was not only effective, but also safe to use wherever needed on the body. Then, Lume was born!
From the Lume website, “Lume actually prevents external body odor from happening in the first place by stopping the odor-causing reaction from happening on our skin.”
Lume comes in a stick as well as a tube, with the formula being the same in either container.
The stick comes in five scents: lavender sage, unscented, jasmine rose, juniper berry, and silver spruce. The tube comes in all the same scents minus silver spruce.

Lume Deodorant Review
I grabbed the unscented and silver spruce scents and have been trying them out for a few weeks now.
In terms of price, this is a more expensive deodorant than others. I haven’t used up an entire container yet to be able to say how long it lasts, but will update this when I do.
Because it is more of a cream than a solid, I feel like you really don’t need to use a lot to cover whatever area you’re trying to deodorize. It’s easy to spread out, so you only need a small amount of product. Their website instructs to only use a pea size amount in each armpit, so not very much at all!
Basically you twist up the product, and it comes through the three holes at the top. If you happen to twist up too much, don’t worry, you can twist it back down and the product goes back in the container.
You really don’t need much at all. Hard to know if I’m using a “pea sized” amount, but I barely twist any product up to the opening. I apply it to my underarms, then use my fingers to rub in the product.
I don’t love having to do this, but it doesn’t really work as well for me to just use the stick to rub it in. I think next time I’ll just get the tube version since I have to use my hands anyways.
The unscented version smells a liiiittle weird upon application, but goes away immediately.
I’ve experienced no irritation at all, and that’s including on very sweaty days (which lead to irritation with Kopari), and applying it immediately after shaving. No redness, no rash, no uncomfortable feeling at all.
Just want to quickly point out that this is not anti-perspirant, so it is not a product intended to stop you from sweating or helping with wetness at all. Typically, natural deodorants are not anti-perspirants.
Also, it’s totally fine to use basically anywhere on your body, but I’ve only been using it under my arms personally. If I decide to use it elsewhere, I will add that to my review!

Okay, okay, but does it work??
BIG FAT YES.
I am still in shock at how well this works for me. I fully was expecting to like-not-love this deodorant, as I do most of the ones I’ve tried. But this works the best out of ANY deodorant I have ever used, natural or not.
I apply it to clean skin, rub it in, and voila. Good to go for the entire day! Yep, Lume lasts the WHOLE day for me.
This is including on really sweaty days too, because the temperatures haven’t really cooled down that much here yet, so I’ve really been able to put it to the test. But I can literally be hot and sweaty all day long and still smell fresh and clean by the end of it!
I also sweat a lot due to anxiety (good times), and this is anxiety-proof as well. If you know, you know.
Since I’m using the unscented version I don’t really have much of a “scent”. Basically I smell like nothing? Which is totally fine by me. I probably would prefer a scented deodorant, but I think all of the scents they carry would give me a headache due to my allergies. No big deal though.
Yes, it’s pricier than others, but you’re using so much less, so I think it will last a pretty good amount of time. I have no problem paying this price tag with how effective it is.
Honestly just so impressed with Lume. Hiiiiiighly recommend, I doubt you’ll feel any different!
Don’t believe me? On their website, the average Lume Deodorant review is a 5/5 stars! Plus, it’s been rated over 900 times on their site. SO many rave reviews for this product!
If you’ve been searching for a natural deodorant that actually WORKS, lasts all day, and causes no irritation whatsoever, I cannot recommend the Lume Deodorant enough!
