If you’ve heard of Glossier, you’ve likely heard of their Balm Dotcom, a lip balm with a cult following behind it. If you’re curious a bit more about Glossier and this lip balm, and whether or not it lives up to the hype, I’m breaking all of that down below!

Glossier Balm Dotcom in Original, Cherry, and Coconut.

Glossier

Glossier is the brand that seemed to take over the internet one day. Their chic and minimalist branding really sucked everyone in! They have skin care, body care, and makeup products, all with high ratings and cult followings. Something is just so alluring about them!

They focus on natural beauty and enhancing your own features. Their products aren’t heavy or dramatic, but with the intention of bringing out more of your own beauty. They encourage skin care first and makeup second, which so many of us tend to forget!

I personally was a little late to the Glossier game, but was gifted these balms from a friend and once I started using them I was HOOKED. And honestly I have around 10 items currently in my cart that I am debating pulling the trigger on!

Ingredient Highlights

From Glossier:

  • Castor Seed Oil: natural plant extract, the thick emollient has unique water-binding properties that keep moisture locked in.
  • Beeswax: natural emollient which acts as a protective barrier.
  • Lanolin: natural emollient that’s good for sensitive skin.
  • Cupuacu Fruit Extract: an organic, long-lasting moisturizer with Omega-6 and Omega-9 fatty acids that melts into skin on contact.
  • Rice Bran & Rosemary Leaf Extracts Antioxidants: combat free-radical skin damage.

How To Use

The most popular way is definitely as a lip balm! I use this every single night before going to bed, whenever else my lips are in need of some hydration!

This can also be used anywhere on the body in need of some extra moisture, but it is very thick so I think it would be hard to rub into most places. I personally haven’t used it anywhere aside from my lips.

I’ve seen a few reviews mention using one of the tinted balms on their cheeks or eyelids for a little glossy color!

Review

This truly is one of the best lip balms I’ve ever tried. No joke! If you’re a lip balm addict like me, trust me, this is one you’re going to want to add into your collection.

I personally have the Original, Coconut, and Cherry. Will probably try them all though at some point!

Best part about this balm is how long lasting it is! Because of how thick of a consistency it is, it really just stays put. I use this every single night (the original or the coconut), and when I wake up in the morning it’s still on my lips as if I had just applied it. I feel like it both hydrates my lips and forms a hydrating, and protective barrier on them.

Also, it’s not a lip balm that during the day you have to apply and reapply over and over again all day long. It never feels like it’s drying out your lips, only hydrating and creating a protective barrier on top of your lips.

The Cherry gives a subtle, red, just bitten kind of look to the lips. Super pretty!

Not sure if anyone will know what I mean, but certain lip balms will irritate my throat. I’m guessing from me swallowing a little bit of product, but it annoys me SO much. Never once experienced that with the Glossier Balm Dotcom. (and if you have no idea what I’m talking about…..just carry on and pretend I never mentioned this.)

The Glossier Balm Dotcom.

I know I’ve mentioned it being thick, but it’s not at all goopy or gross. Not sticky either! It’s just stays put and feels very comfortable to wear.

It might seem pricey for a lip balm, but it’s definitely a high quality one, and you get SO much in the tube itself. These things last so long! I’ve yet to finish one of the three I have and that’s with regular usage.

My only complaint is that I don’t love the tube itself mainly because I don’t really like applying lip products with my fingers. But it’s no big! I typically just apply leftover product on my fingers to my cuticles or rub into my hands.

Final Thoughts

Is the Glossier Balm Dotcom worth the hype?! IMO, yes. Definitely! Super hydrating, long lasting, and protective lip balm that has really made a difference in my lips!

Want to grab one (or all) to try for yourself? I don’t blame you. They have the option to purchase any of the Balm Dotcoms individually, or you can grab yourself a trio (pick any 3 balms you want!) and save $6!
