On my hunt to find an affordable cruelty free moisturizer, I found Body Merry Breakthrough Night Cream on Amazon, and after using it for over a month now, I’m sharing my review.

The cruelty free night cream by Body Merry packaging.

I picked this up after searching for a moisturizer that contained peptides, because I really liked Drunk Elephant’s Protini moisturizer which also contains peptides, but didn’t love that price tag.

The Body Merry Breakthrough Night Cream has over 584 reviews on Amazon, with the overall review being 4.4 stars. With the price sitting at $16.99, I was sold!

First thing I’ll note is that the container was bigger than I expected. You definitely get a good amount of product in this container, and at a great price point. You get 3.4 oz in the container, and it has a pump dispenser and lid. The container itself feels a little cheap, but that’s not a big deal to me at all.

From the Body Merry website, this cruelty free moisturizer uses “5% niacinamide, peptides, a custom complex of ocean minerals and seaweed, this deeply hydrating and nourishing formula helps to slow the signs of aging to reveal a more even and brighter looking complexion – all while you’re fast asleep!”

In case you were curious what niacinamide is, because I was, it’s a form of vitamin B3 that has anti-inflammatory properties, can help with hyperpigmentation, help with uneven skin tone, and reduce the signs of aging. I’m not a scientist though, so don’t quote me on that, but it’s what a quick google search told me!

How I typically use this is as my night time moisturizer, mixing in a few drops of my Instanaturals Marula Oil, and applying to my skin after my Pixi Hydrating Milky Mist.

My first impression was that this was on the thicker side. It takes a little while to rub in, more so than other moisturizers I’ve tried. It claims to be for all skin types, but I don’t think this would be great for someone with oily skin. It’s a heavier cream, and takes a while to absorb, which usually is fine for a night cream.

My overall review of the Body Merry Breakthrough Night Cream is that I liked this moisturizer, but I didn’t love it. It doesn’t break me out, which is my first requirement, and honestly I was surprised it didn’t since it is on the heavier side.

I like that it’s fragrance free, and packed with natural ingredients. Of course I appreciate that it’s cruelty free, that goes without saying. Also, they offer a 90 day money back guarantee.

It did moisturize and hydrate my skin, but I felt like when I woke up in the morning there was still product sitting on top of my skin that hadn’t fully sunk in. I experienced this even when using it without the marula oil mixed in. It definitely gave my skin some hydration, but I’d much prefer to not wake up with the feeling of leftover product sitting on top.

If you have dry to very dry skin and are looking for an affordable cruelty free moisturizer, the Body Merry Breakthrough Night Cream isn’t a bad place to start. It’s good, but not great.

Maybe it will work for you, and with the 90 day money back guarantee, there isn’t much risk involved. I will still be on the hunt for a great moisturizer at hopefully a great price, and will definitely be posting about it whenever I find it!
