After reading review after review praising the Bliss Drench and Quench Moisturizer, I had to try it for myself! I have been on the hunt for the perfect moisturizer that is a gel texture, but still provides enough moisture for my dry skin. Not going to lie, I had pretty high hopes for this one!
The Bliss Drench and Quench is an affordable moisturizer, available at Target, Ulta, and other drugstores, with rave reviews across all retailers. It’s a few dollars cheaper at Target though, so I suggest purchasing from there if you are interested.

It isn’t as affordable as some other moisturizers available at those retailers, but still not too bad. The full sized jar is $17.99 at Target, and has lasted me quite a while.
This is an ultra-lightweight moisturizer, that “transforms into water” once applied onto the skin. It claims “surge skin with more than 10,000 marine micro-droplets” for hydration that will last you all day, all while being weightless.

This moisturizer is free from parabens, phthalates, sulfates, sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), sodium saureth sulfate (SLES), DMDM hydantoin, urea, petrolatum, mineral oil, DEA/TEA/MEA/ET A, and formaldehyde.
So far, so good, right?
I’ve been using the Bliss Drench and Quench moisturizer for about 2 months now, and unfortunately, I don’t think it will be a repurchase for me.
The first thing I noticed right away was how intense the smell is. It’s described as “refreshing aquatic” but it just smells like really strong soap. It luckily doesn’t last that long and after it’s applied I don’t really notice it at all. But it’s SO intense when you apply it. It’s not even a bad smell, it’s just so heavily scented. There’s definitely a part of me that wonders how good that scent is for my skin at all, especially because I have sensitive skin.
It felt really nice upon immediate application. It’s gel in the jar, and does really melt into a more watery texture as you rub it into the skin. It’s the texture I look for in a moisturizer, so I did enjoy that aspect.
However, although it does feels really nice upon applying, I don’t feel like it fully sinks into my skin. Seems to leave a layer on top, which quickly turns greasy, at least on me. I don’t really like the feeling of moisturizer sitting on top of my skin, especially if it’s making me oily. I prefer my moisturizer to sink in all the way, leaving behind soft and hydrated skin. Not my experience.
By the end of the day I was so shiny after using this moisturizer. Especially on my forehead and t zone. My cheeks felt okay, not as hydrated as I’d want, but not too dry either.
I will say that I didn’t experience any breakouts while using this, so if you have acne prone skin, I think this is a safe bet. It also didn’t irritate my sensitive skin at all, even though it was so heavily scented.
I’m really not sure who this moisturizer would be good for. I have dry skin, and it left me oily at the end of the day. Maybe that’s because it didn’t hydrate me enough so my skin was over-producing oil? That is always a possibility. But it didn’t seem to sink in and vanish, but rather sit on top from the moment I put it on my skin, and get greasier as the day went on.
Does absorption levels differ from skin to skin? I honestly don’t know. But if you have skin that absorbs moisturizers well, maybe this would work for you?
I’m a little baffled how this moisturizer is so highly rated when I knew pretty much from day one that it was not going to work for me. Didn’t stop me from continuing to use it though because I’m trying to not be wasteful lol.
Seems like no one else had the same reaction as I did, so maybe I’m just a weirdo with skin that has a hard time absorbing products???
If you do want to check out the Bliss Drench and Quench moisturizer, I suggest shopping at Target because both sizes are cheaper than where I’ve seen elsewhere. Also, grab the smaller size to test out, it’s only $4.99, and will give you a good idea of how your skin responds to it. I think you’ll quickly be able to figure out if it works for you and if the smell is tolerable to you.
I still appreciate that Bliss is a cruelty free brand, with high quality items at a more affordable price point. I plan on trying some of their other products to test out soon, but unfortunately, the Drench and Quench moisturizer was not a winner for me.
