Sol de Janeiro Bom Dia Bright Cream Review

The Sol de Janeiro Bom Dia Bright Cream was a complete impulse buy the last time I was in Sephora. I used to live right around the corner from one, and had stopped in at some point to pick up a few things. I don’t really like the scent of the OG Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum cream, so it’s not something I ever tried. However, when I saw this cute little pink guy and got to smell the tested, it wasn’t a hard decision to add it to my cart and bring it home with me.

Bom Dia Bright Cream

Background on Sol de Janeiro

Sol de Janeiro is definitely most known for their cult favorite Brazilian Bum Bum Cream, probably even more known for the specific scent, which is a mix of pistachio, salted caramel and vanilla (which sounds right up my alley but something about it isn’t for me. I still might give it a try at some point though…)

They are a company focusing on body positivity, and have created products to help you feel luxurious from the formula and feeling on the skin, to the delicious scents.

They carry body care, hair care, and fragrances.

Is Sol de janeiro cruelty free?

Yes, Sol de Janeiro is a cruelty free company!

About The Bom Dia Bright Cream

About The Product

The Bom Dia Bright Cream is a deliciously scented lotion, with notes of black amber, plum, and vanilla woods. The fruit AHAs and vitamin C gently exfoliate you to reveal hydrated, brightened skin, and just an overall more even-tone. It’s a fast absorbing yet moisture-rich formula made to smooth rough texture and leave skin feeling soft and smooth.

Who is this product for?

This body cream is for all skin types looking for smoother and brighter looking skin! And who loves sweeter scented lotions.

Average Reviews

On the Sephora website, it has an average rating of 4.5/5 stars from 722 reviews.

Ingredient Highlights

From Sephora:

  • Fruit Alpha-Hydroxy Acids (Mango and Banana Derived): Exfoliate, support collagen and elastin production, and reveal visibly fresh, smooth, radiant skin.
  • Vitamin C Ester: A fast-absorbing ingredient that delivers free-radical protection and a visible brightness boost.
  • Cupuaçu Butter: Intensely nourishes skin with an abundance of fatty acids while locking in moisture to prevent dehydration.

Other Deets

The packaging is 100% recyclable once rinsed out. Also, the box of the full-size Bom Dia Bright Body Cream is recyclable and made from 80 percent Forest Stewardship Council-certified recycled materials.

How To Use Bom Dia Bright Cream

The Bom Dia Bright Cream can be used daily, in the morning or evening. Because of the AHAs made to smooth your skin, it can be a good product to use on areas you typically would experience ingrown hair, rough or bumpy skin on arms, thighs, etc.

Bom Dia Bright Cream Review

From the fun packaging to the product itself, I am a huge fan of the Bom Dia Bright Cream, and the Sol de Janeiro brand overall.

First, let’s dive into the scent because WOW it’s good.

The fragrance notes from the Sol de Janeiro describe it as, “Infused with our new Cheirosa ’40 fragrance that’s warm, soft, and sultry all at once. A blend of gourmand notes of black amber plum and dark, yet, sweet crème de cassis mingled with vanilla woods, fresh jasmine blooms and a hint of musk.”

TOP: Black Amber Plum, Crème de Cassis
MID: Jasmine Blooms, Brazilian
DRY: Vanilla Woods, Warm Musk

I love anything amber and vanilla, so it wasn’t really a shocker to me that I fell in love with this scent from first whiff.

Florals typically bother me (headache wise), but I don’t really notice them at all, so if you’re going for this body cream because of the florals, it deffffinitely leans more sweet vanilla and amber than floral.

It’s delicious and lovely. Obsessed isn’t a strong enough word to describe how I feel about this scent!

Sol de Janeiro bom dia bright cream

Alright, now that we’ve got that covered, let’s chat about the actual formula of the Bom Dia Bright Cream.

It’s soft, buttery, luxurious, decadent and all around wonderful.

It’s very deeply hydrating but also doesn’t feel heavy or greasy. It absorbs very quickly leaving behind soft and moisturized skin! (and if you’ve used the Bum Bum Cream, I’ve read this is lighter than that)

I have pretty severe KP on my arms and this definitely makes a difference in how bumpy and hydrated my arms are (although it doesn’t eliminate it completely, I’m not sure that’s even possible.) And if you have no idea what KP is……just be thankful!

My biggest complain is price point. She ain’t cheap. Typically my lotions are at a much lower price point so this one……..it a bit much for me.

I started out with the mini size at $20, and the big size is $45. I do feel like it lasts a while, and obviously love the scent and formula, but isn’t a splurge. In my mind, it’s like a nice treat for myself. I definitely will repurchase, but probably will stock up during a sale to justify it a bit.

I think all skin types would enjoy the Bom Dia Bright Cream formula! It’s hydrating enough for skin on the dryer side, but quick to absorb and light enough that normal skin types would enjoy as well.

Final Thoughts

Although pricey, the Bom Dia Bright Cream has a wonderful luxurious formula and scent, and is an easy repurchase for me.

Highly recommend smelling it in store to make sure you enjoy it! And if you’d like to purchase, starting with the smaller size to be extra extra sure before splurging on the larger tub.

And if it’s during the Sephora sale – STOCK UP!
