The Natura Brasil Murumuru Reconstructive Hair Mask has quickly become a favorite for me, and so I’m sharing my review here on the blog all about it any why I love it so much!
EDIT – this product has since been reformulated and renames as the Restoring Hair Mask, which I have not yet tried.
When I ran out of conditioner, I decided to use hair masks instead because I had quite a stash going. Most were smaller tubes with 1-2 uses, and then I also had the Natura Hair Mask from a collaboration I did last year on my Ivy Rose Knows Instagram.
Honestly, I was pretty underwhelmed by most of the hair masks. Some were okay, and added some hydration and softness to my hair. Others seemed like they did absolutely nothing, and one made my hair feel worse after using it!
I was starting to get the feeling that hair masks weren’t going to work on my hair, and that I didn’t really understand the hype surrounded using them.
Enter the Natura Hair Mask!
A little background on the brand – NaturaBrasil uses ingredients straight from the Amazon, which are sustainably harvested. They work with communities in the Amazon region to help them build business models that benefit the forest. Each of their products are formulated without “parabens, sulfates, phthalates, propylene glycol, mineral oil, PABA, petroleum, triclosan, DEA and animal ingredients.”
Ingredient Highlights (from NaturaBrasil):
- Murumuru: It has a high affinity with the hair fiber, repairing damaged strands and recovering hair’s natural elasticity.
- Olive Oil: One of the healthiest vegetable oils, it is rich in Vitamin E and fatty acids. Potent moisture booster for a nurtured, smooth and vigorous skin.
Just FYI – I have thin, curly, and frizzy hair.
From the first time I used the Natura Hair Mask, I immediately felt a significant difference in my hair. Cannot explain just how soft it left my hair!
You really don’t need to use that much, so I expect the tub to last me a long time. The directions say to use a quarter size amount, and a little more for longer or thicker hair. I use more than a quarter, probably somewhere around a tablespoon.
It’s very thick, you need to rub it in your palms a bit to get it to smooth out some. If you scoop it from the tub and put straight into your hair it can be harder to spread out and some might fall – don’t want to waste it! Rubbing it in your palms helps with application and not wasting any.
Then you just put all over your hair. I start with my ends and comb it through, then whatever is leftover in my hands put through the rest of my hair.
I typically go about the rest of my shower, and leave it in as long as possible. Then rinse – and it’s easy to rinse too, even though it’s so thick. Your hair immediately feels so soft, even while it’s still wet. Doesn’t feel heavy or like product is left in your hair, it just feels nourished.
Once your hair is dry, it’s still so soft! I honestly cannot stop touching my hair after using this because of how soft it is!
It smells pretty good, but not my favorite scent of every hair mask I’ve used. Doesn’t smell bad by any means though. And I’d happily take the effectiveness of the mask over the best scented one any day.
Definitely plan to try more of this brand, I bet there are some more hidden gems!
So out of all the hair masks I’ve tried so far, this one is by far my favorite. If you’re looking for one that will deeply nourish your hair and leave is so unbelievably soft, I highly recommend you picking this one up!
