Once I made the switch to cruelty free, one of the challenges was finding a solid cruelty free perfume to use, luckily I stumbled upon Skylar Vanilla Sky, and let me tell ya, she is a winner!
I am not a huge perfume person, by that I mean I like more subtle scents. I like to have a handful in my collection for special occasions that might be more intense, and a few low key ones for everyday. Skylar Vanilla Sky has quickly become my purse perfume that I always have on me and any other vanilla fanatics should think about adding it to your collection!

One of my favorite things about Skylar Perfume is that they offer a Sample Palette which features the 10 scents in their collection! This way you get to test them all out and see which work for you, which layer well together, and what you want to grab a full size.
They also have a Scent Club, which is basically a subscription service where you get a new limited edition rollerball every month, plus other member perks and discounts.

Skylar Perfume is perfect for anyone looking to find their signature vegan, cruelty free, natural, clean, and hypoallergenic scent. Which can definitely be difficult to find! Skylar is also great if you like layering scents, as many of their scents are designed to be combined and layered together.
Skylar Vanilla Sky specifically would be great for anyone who is a fan of vanilla scents, but doesn’t want anything too overpowering or childish. Definitely not an overly sweet candy kinda vanilla, much more mature!

Skylar Vanilla Sky Review
Let me just start by saying that I’m not at all a perfume connoisseur. I’m not very knowledgeable or able to identify scent notes or anything like that. My perfume opinions pretty much boil down to does it smell nice and does it last. So that’s what I’ll be diving into! I’m sure there are a lot more things that could go into a perfume review, so I apologize if you’re looking for something more thorough than that!
So first things first, and most important of course, does it smell nice?! Yes, obviously. If you couldn’t already tell – I’m a fan of the Skylar Vanilla Sky perfume!
I’m a sucker for pretty much anything vanilla. From the super sweet like candy scents, to the more mature or leaning more masculine, I like it all. It’s easily my favorite scent and I prefer my perfumes to either be vanilla or have vanilla in it, even if it’s not the main note. So this was right up my alley!
This vanilla is definitely not a super sweet little kid vanilla. It’s only slightly sweet, even less so when it dries down. I think the cedar plays a big role in that! It’s not an overly feminine scent, also because it’s not too sweet, and since cedar can be masculine.
It’s easily a scent you could wear year round! I think it’s light enough for spring and summer, but warm enough for the colder months too.
I have the rollerball of Skylar Vanilla Sky because I typically go for the smaller version before committing to a bigger size. I prefer for smaller perfumes to be spray bottles, just because I feel like it’s easier to apply, but the rollerball works perfectly fine. You don’t have to really rub it to get the perfume to come out, I only dab it and it applies it well. I do a dab or two on each wrist, and one on each side of my neck.
I think because of how light it is it would work well to layer with other scents. It’s not at ALL overpowering.
In terms of lasting power, it’s good not great. I personally don’t really mind since I keep the rollerball in my purse and can easily reapply if I ever need to. I would say it lasts for a good chunk of the day, but not all day. I have only reapplied it once, and that’s from using it early in the morning, so I reapplied in the late afternoon.
Is it my favorite scent?! No, probably not. I think I prefer my vanillas to be more sweet (which of course is a matter of opinion since some of the reviews on Sephora say it’s too sweet for them!). But I like notes of caramel, amber, etc. I think the cedar takes away a bit more of the sweetness than I’d prefer.
That said, it’s a wonderful everyday, cruelty free and clean perfume. Simple and lovely! I absolutely would repurchase the Skylar Vanilla Sky perfume! Perhaps I should try layering it with a bit of amber oil…will keep you posted.
Final Thoughts
The Skylar Vanilla Sky perfume is absolutely a winner. It’s a simple and light vanilla scent, not overpowering or too sweet, and balanced nicely with cedar to be more middle of the road sweetness wise. Lasting power is decent, but you can easily reapply with the rollerball. I absolutely recommend giving Skylar Vanilla Sky a try if you’re a fellow vanilla scent lover!
